At Zennify, we don't look for “perfect candidates.” We value people for who they are, their lived experiences, perspectives, and the paths that led them here.

Today, we’re spotlighting Nicolette Barbitta, a three-time nCino Community Champion and Zennify Trusted Advisor award winner. Her journey into tech started with a moment that changed everything.

The Spark

Nicolette, how did you get into tech?

My dad introduced me to technology. I grew up with PC World magazines and floppy disks. But it wasn’t until my early 20s, when my computer caught a virus and I couldn’t afford to get it fixed, that I started fixing it myself. I realized I loved working with computers. Friends and family started coming to me for help.

One day, a relative asked, “Have you ever thought about doing this for a living?” That question lit a fire. I saw tech not just as a passion—but as a career path.

The Journey

That spark led me back to school. I got a job at a local repair shop and eventually bought the business when the owner retired. After running it for several years, I moved into a support role at a copier company for more stability.

That’s where I started listening more deeply, really learning how teams used software, what they needed, and how to improve their tools. I introduced process changes and trained coworkers. I also found Trailhead and started teaching myself Salesforce.

Then came a turning point. Despite exceeding expectations, my manager told me I was being “too aggressive” about wanting to grow. That stung. So I left.

I became the lead business analyst at a bank, helping implement a consumer loan origination system. My manager supported me, opened doors, and pulled me into projects, including the bank’s commercial loan system selection.

When nCino presented, I saw it was built on Salesforce. Lightning struck again. I dove back into Trailhead, refreshed my skills, and became the solo nCino admin for 220 users.

Finding Zennify

In 2019, I went to my first local Salesforce community event. I made my way through every vendor booth—and while talking to someone about backups, a guy jumped into the conversation: “You work with nCino? I’m Manvir.”

That guy was Manvir Sandhu. Later that day, I joined his team for dinner.

Over dinner, I learned about Zennify and how it started. What stood out to me? The number of women at the table. The energy. The values. I left curious, followed Zennify on social, and a few months later, reached out. I joined in September 2020.

Why I Stay

When I joined, I wondered: “Is this company for real?” The answer is yes. The culture here is what we say it is. There’s trust. There’s care. I get to do meaningful work for banks, and I get to do it in a way that aligns with my values.

Values in Action

Before Zennify, I volunteered with the Butte Diaper Bank and helped formalize it as a nonprofit. After joining, I asked if Zennify could help us implement Salesforce. The team stepped up. We built out the Nonprofit Success Pack, reducing volunteer application processing time from four hours to 30 minutes. That time now goes to fundraising—helping more families than ever.

There’s also psychological safety here. You can speak up, raise issues, and solve problems together. That kind of trust is rare—and it’s real at Zennify.

Paying It Forward

I’ve had amazing mentors. Their support pushed me forward, especially when I doubted myself. I want to give that same support to others. I want people to know:

  • You belong here.
  • Your voice matters.
  • You’re capable of more than you think.

I bring that energy to every interaction, with teammates and clients. Their success is my success.
