Tyntec is winding down its communication platform, and companies need a migration plan

Companies that use Tyntec for Voice, WhatsApp, SMS, or MMS have a short timeline to move to a new provider. The businesses most affected are the ones with customer-facing workflows built directly on Tyntec's APIs, since those don't move to a new vendor on their own.

That includes interactive voice response systems (IVRs), WhatsApp Business integrations, and software development kits (SDKs) embedded in existing apps. Each of those needs a new home before Tyntec's services stop.

Three things break when a vendor winds down

A few things typically need attention when a communications vendor winds down:

  • Phone numbers and channel accounts. Voice numbers, WhatsApp Business accounts, and SMS/MMS delivery paths don't transfer automatically.
  • Embedded SDKs. If an app calls Tyntec's SDK directly, each of those integration points needs a replacement.
  • Timeline. A vendor wind-down comes with a fixed cutoff date, which limits how much re-architecture is realistic.

Twilio is a common landing point for this kind of migration, and there are two established paths onto it.

Two paths onto Twilio

Twilio Flex. This is an out-of-the-box agent workspace covering Voice, WhatsApp, SMS/RCS, and MMS, with routing, assignment, and escalation already built in. It's a fast option when the goal is a working tool without changes to an existing app.

Twilio Conversations SDK. This embeds directly into an existing iOS, Android, or web app, keeping the current interface and customer experience unchanged. It's a direct replacement for the Tyntec SDK across written channels.

Which path makes sense depends on whether the priority is speed to a working tool, or keeping full control of an existing app's front end.

Zennify is running this migration now

Zennify is currently migrating a global brand off Tyntec and onto Twilio, covering WhatsApp, and SMS, and that work is shaping how we sequence channels and test cutover on every migration that follows. Our Twilio Flex Kickstarter gets a production-ready Flex instance live in under seven days, and our Twilio Service Cloud Accelerator embeds Flex directly into Salesforce Service Cloud Voice for teams already on Salesforce. Positec used a similar Flex build to unify its regional support teams and reported a 50% improvement in response time and a 25% reduction in support costs.
